The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has begun a special investigation into the incident where an unidentified person had intruded the 'Horagolla Walauwa' in Nittambuwa, the ancestral home of former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

The stranger intruded the premises on January 20 while the policemen attached to former President's Security Division were on duty around the area.

An official from former President Kumaratunga's office said it was still unclear to as to how this person had entered the residence when there was a Police checkpoint at the main entrance to the Walauwa.

The suspect is believed to have entered by breaking the glass facade. The former President was at her official residence in Colombo at the time of the incident, and more importantly, it had happened despite the presence of three Policemen who were on duty at the Walauwa.

When contacted, the OIC of the Nittambuwa Police said no arrests have been made thus far and they have launched a special probe into the incident. (Yoshitha Perera)
