Speaker Karu Jayasuriya who is in Doha, Qatar had met with Qatar Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani today.
The Speaker met with Al Thani on the sidelines of the 140th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Gulf Times reported.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, ways of supporting and developing them, as well as matters of mutual interest.
The 140th Assembly of the IPU is taking place in Doha, Qatar, from 6-10 April. All IPU statutory bodies, including the Governing Council, Standing Committees, Committees on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians and on Middle East Questions, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the Forum of Young MPs, are attending the assembly.
