Power Minister Dullas Alahapperuma yesterday said, he was moving towards a pattern of generating electricity using solar energy and wind power, targeting the dry climatic conditions.
He expressed his views at a discussion with the Maldivian High Commissioner Omar Abdul Razzak at the Ministry.
He also mentioned the power sector in Sri Lanka has gone beyond the traditional power generating process and now moving towards renewable energy sources.
As the Minister in charge of the subject, Minister Alahapperuma had entrusted with the task of continually meeting the demand for electricity in the country in a quality and cost-effective manner.
The Maldivian High Commissioner said, he was pleased with the Sri Lankan power sector, which has been hailed as the 24-hour power supplying nation in South Asia and thanked the Minister for his unique role as Minister of Power and Energy. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
