A six-year-old half Sri Lankan boy Abdullah who lives in London has written a letter to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa requesting him to protect the country's environment for the future generation.

In the letter written on November 26, Abdullah said his "heart was hundred per cent full of love for amazing Sri Lanka" and wanted to congratulate the PM for his victory. "My mom told me all about it," the letter said.

He said he wanted to discuss something very important with the PM; “Please, can you make the environment your biggest priority? Our future is in your hands,” he said.

The boy requested the PM to put all systems in place to protect the country's wonderful beaches and seas. “That way turtles will be safe and visit Sri Lankan beaches every year, just like I will. I wish you the very best! Lots of love, Abdullah,” the boy signed off.

While replying to the letter in a tweet, Prime Minister Rajapaksa thanked the boy and said he had received the written letter. The PM also said the letter had motivated and encouraged him. “The letter reminded me of the responsibility we as the older generation have towards our youngsters. I hope to one day meet you in person and wish you the very best," the PM tweeted.
