National Transport Commission (NTC) advised all buses that transport school children under “Sisu Seriya”  to provide service during GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination.

The O/L exam will commence on March 1 and will last for nine days.

NTC Director General Commander Nilan Miranda told the Daily Mirror that Sisu Seriya buses have been advised to operate even if there are one or two students who travel to exam centres.

Earlier, the bus service was set to transport school children only, but the NTC had permitted to take one parent of a student until the end of the examination for the safety of the children, the DG said.

However, the bus service will operate across the country for the transporting schools children during the examination, he said.

The Sisu Seriya was launched in 2005, and it is a centralized, reliable and concessionary bus service combined with SLTB and registered private bus service providers.  There are about 778 buses currently in service, Mr. Miranda added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
