Shoppers, traders told to strictly follow health guidelines

Shoppers and traders have been urged to strictly follow the coronavirus health guidelines during the festive season.
 
Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that last year the public could not celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year as a result of the pandemic .
 
However, this year most restrictions have been relaxed and most people are expected to go shopping ahead of the New Year.
 
"The Covid virus  is still around but has been contained to some extent," DIG Ajith Rohana said.
 
DIG Ajith Rohana, however, warned that the threat from the virus still remains.
 
As a result. he urged the public to  follow the health guidelines when shopping for the festive season.
 
He also urged traders to ensure all Covid related safety measures are in place at their stalls, including hand-washing facilities.
