Criminal Investigation Department former Director Shani Abeysekera, who was under remand custody at the Mahara Prison has contracted Covid-19, the Prisons Department said.
Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake told Daily Mirror that he had been transferred to the Prisons Hospital.
He also said there were about 13 inmates who earlier tested positive for the virus from the Mahara Prison where Shani Abeysekera was in. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
