Seven GN Divisions remain isolated albeit record surge in COVID-19 cases

Despite the record number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country yesterday, only seven Grama Niladhari Divisions across the country remain isolated, according to the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19.

A total number of 976 patients reported yesterday, and the majority of 252 cases have been reported in the Colombo District.

Yesterday's infected cases considered as the highest reported in the country within a 24-hour period so far.

In addition, 227 patients from the Gampaha District, 150 in Kandy, 87 in Kalutara, 49 in Ratnapura and 48 in Kurunegala were also reported.

However, currently the Samagiwatta GN Division in Narahenpita, Veyangalle East, Veyangalle West and Bodupitiya 727 GN Divisions in Kalutara District, Poornawatta West DS Division in Kandy, Dehipitiya (356 A) GN Division in Matale and 166 A and few areas around Kattankudi, (Mothinar North, Sinnathona Road, Gafoor Place, Telecom Road, 1st Cross Street, Fowzi Street) remain isolated.
