The deputy mayor and a councillor of the Kalmunai Municipal Council had been expelled from their party membership of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF), over allegations of corruption.
TULF leader V. Ananda Sangaree said Deputy Mayor Kaththamuthu Ganeshan and Councillor Sumithra Jegadeeshwaran were expelled from the party because they have been acting contrary to the policies of the party.
He said that there were reports that the Deputy Mayor has been abusing his powers and even engaging in fraudulent activities.
Sangaree said the party would also take measures to remove the duo’s membership of the Municipal Council. (S. Aslam)
