Former MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena today sought permission from the Colombo Chief Magistrate to travel abroad.

Filing a motion Gunawardena today requested permission to travel to India for religious purposes from November 11 to 16.

The Bribery Commission had charged the accused with causing a loss of Rs. Rs.883 million to Mihin Lanka during his tenure as its CEO.

As the case was fixed to be taken up again on November 4, Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya told the suspect to make his request when the matter was taken up again.

However, Gunawardena's passport was returned to him by the Court.

Gunawardena was Mihin Lanka’s CEO from June 2007 to May 2008. (Shehan Chamika Silva)
