The Special Task Force of Police (STF) have been deployed once again to carry-out search operations at the Welikada, Colombo Remand and Magazine prisons.
Prison spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said the STF personnel began conducting search operations on inmates and prison officers in prisons compounds from today.
STF personnel were deployed to carry out such operations at selected prisons last year, however due to COVID-19 outbreak they had been withdrawn from duties.(DSB)
