The 30-year-old Wijesinghe Arachchige Niroshani alias 'Aruni Baba', the wife of underworld figure Kudu Roshan and Salinda Dharmasiri alias Thel Chooti were arrested by the STF for possession of heroin.
The suspects also had Rs. 1.7 million in cash at the time of arrest, according to the Police.
They said Aruni Baba had been operating with drug smuggling of Kudu Roshan, who is currently in prison over a shooting incident in 2016.
Kudu Roshan was arrested over the shooting incident in Samithpura, Mattakkuliya on October 23 in 2016 where five people, including Chuti Ukkun, were killed.
The Police said that investigation had revealed that Kudu Roshan had been operating the drug smuggling operation from the prison while his wife Aruni Baba helped him.
She was arrested for possession of 3 grams of heroin and Rs. 1 million in cash by the STF.
Following the arrest of Aruni Baba, the STF recovered that there were two rented houses belonging to the suspect woman at Ragama and Kadawatha.
The STF also raided those houses and 46-year-old W. Salinda Dharmasiri alias Thel Chooti and arrested him with 2 grams of heroin, 100 grams of Ice drugs and Rs. 700,000 in cash from the house at Kadawatha.(Darshana Sanjeewa)
