Minister Wimal Weerawansa should apologize to the public for a comment he had made to a local newspaper with regard to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) leadership, SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said today.

The National Freedom Front (NFF) leader Minister Weerawansa had reportedly made a comment to Sunday Lankadeepa that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa should be the SLPP Chairman replacing Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Kariyawasam told a news briefing that Minister Weerawansa had no right to make any statement in relevance to the matters of the SLPP.

“Thus, he should immediately withdraw his statement and apologize to the public,” Kariyawasam added. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
