Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser Basil Rajapaksa today said he is ready and determined to work towards electing the next President from his party, SLPP.

He expressed these views while addressing the SLPP Youth Bala Mandalaya at Mahara yesterday.

Mr Rajapaksa said he expects the contribution and the assistance of the youth to rebuild the country under the new President.

"Electing a President from the SLPP is not a mere statement. When the SLPP was not more than one year old, it showed it's a strength by defeating grand old parties like the United National Party and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party at the last local government election.

The SLPP also defeated the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna. At any upcoming election, our party will win 19 districts in results," he said.

He admitted that he had no plan to obtain the recent 50-day government or to maintain it and added their fight is now against the international conspirators and not against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, or Ministers Sajith Premadasa or Naveen Dissanayake.(Lahiru Pothmulla)
