SLPP PS member arrested over attempted robbery in Thambuttegama

A Pradeshiya Sabha member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has been arrested in connection with the attempted robbery of Rs. 22.3 million near a bank in Thambuttegama.

The Police yesterday arrested the two robbers who attempted to snatch Rs. 22.3 million from a man who came to deposit the money to a bank in Thambuttegama.

The robbers were overpowered by a policeman who was on duty in the area, managed to apprehend the duo while they were trying to flee the area with the robbed money at gun point.

Police the the PS member (44) of the Rajanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha was arrested after questioning the two men who were engaged in the robbery. (DSB)
