Chilaw Pradeshiya Sabha member of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Nuwan Sanjeewa Mendis was killed in an accident at Madampe on the Kurunegala-Madampe Road last night, police said.
They said the 44-year-old PS member was killed after his motorcycle had collided head-on with a tipper truck when he was making a turn.
The accident took place while the victim was returning home at Suduwella, Pelawatte from Madampe.
The PS member was admitted to the Chilaw District Hospital with injuries and died on the admission, the police said.
Police said the victim was a father of three and a carpenter. (Augustine Fernando)
