SLAF aircraft makes emergency landing at Irakkandi

A Cessna 150 aircraft used for the basic training of pilots of the Sri Lanka Air Force made an emergency landing at Irakkandi area near the Nilaveli beach in Trincomalee due to a technical fault.

The SLAF said that the plane took off from the China Bay air force base in Trincomalee at around 10.22 this morning and landed at around 10.48 this morning.

They said the pilots were able to avert an accident and the aircraft and both pilots were safe.

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudharshana Pathirana has instructed the relevant authorities to conduct further investigations into the incident.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
