Sri Lanka secured the first ever coco peat deal to Kenya where the first consignment of the natural fiber was shipped to the destination from the Colombo Port on 4 January 2022.

While several companies were approached, the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Nairobi shared that the consignment has been imported by MayleenKenya Limited.

Kenya’s total annual import capacity of coco peat stands at 10,000MT, which guarantees a sustainable export trend of this product from Sri Lanka to Kenya,” the High Commission said in a statement.

The coco peat under the first consignment was processed using a unique preparation method as requested by the Kenyan users.
