Ruwanthika Dilini, a Sri Lankan employee of Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG in Oman, had given birth to triplets following a critical surgery at Khoula Hospital in Muscat amidst COVID-19 challenges.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Muscat extended its best wishes to the mother of the new-born triplets.
It was reported that the mother was unable to travel to Sri Lanka for the delivery due to the lockdown and closure of airports in the aftermath of COVID-19 outbreak.
In a statement, the Embassy on Tuesday said Dr. Tahira Kazmi, Senior Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecologist has successfully performed the critical surgery on the Sri Lankan pregnant migrant worker.
Sri Lankan Ambassador O.L. Ameer Ajwad, who felicitated Dr. Kazmi, had earlier made arrangements with her for the critical surgery on the pregnant mother.
“Ambassador Ajwad extended his sincere appreciation to Dr. Mazin Al Khabouri Director General of the Ministry of Health as well as to Dar Al-Atta Charitable Association of Oman for their kind and generous humanitarian gesture towards this distressed pregnant migrant worker to deliver her three babies in a successful and peaceful manner.
The Ambassador also extended his sincere gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the Government of His Majesty for taking excellent care of migrant workers in Oman during this challenging time,” the Embassy said.
