SL doesn’t need a terminator: PM

Referring to the remarks made by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser Basil Rajapaksa about its presidential candidate being like a terminator, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the country did not need a terminator but one who could secure the country’s future.

He said this when addressing provincial councillors in the Colombo, Kurunegala and Galle districts at Temple Trees yesterday.

Basil Rajapaksa told a news briefing on Thursday that their presidential candidate has to be like a terminator who eradicated fraud and corruption.

But the Prime Minister said the country needed a person who would focus on development and respond to the people's hardship.

“If the kind of leader as described by Basil Rajapaksa comes to power; the economy, development, democracy, media freedom, independence of judiciary, urban development and health sector will be terminated,” he said.

The Prime Minister asked the people whether they would cast their vote for that kind of person.
