SL Labour Party presidential candidate releases manifesto

Sri Lanka Labour Party presidential candidate A.S.P. Liyanage released his election manifesto focusing on twelve main proposals including the livelihood of the people and law and order in the country.

Mr. Liyanage released his election manifesto on Saturday at his Peacock Mansion in Rajagiriya.

His proposals included aspects of safeguarding law and order, protection of individuals' rights, providing incentives for social services, providing economic opportunities for everyone and development of the education, in his manifesto.

He said university students should be given military training to establish discipline in the universities. “All students above grade five should be given facilities to learn Sinhala, English and Tamil languages,” the presidential candidate said.

He said that most presidential candidates had already put forward their election manifesto and what was spelt out in those manifestos were not practical.

Mr Liyanage also said that he would establish multiple political systems and to keep stable relationships with neighbouring states.

He said that he had discussed with several professionals prior to creating his manifesto.

Mr. Liyanage who vowed to eliminate corruption said that “I have a clean career background without any corruption or being part of any extremist activities. I will be dedicated to eliminating frauds at public service, judiciary and at other law enforcement institutes.”

The Labour Party candidate said the Sri Lanka Labour Party will appoint a Central Advisory Committee comprising leaders from each district. (DSB)
