Although UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said that the details on SJB MPS who will support former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be revealed shortly, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said none from his party will support Mr. Wickremesinghe.
“Those who will support Mr. Wickremesinghe will be revealed to the whole nation in a few days’ time and one has to wait and see how 60 MPS in Parliament will support him,” Mr. Range Bandara told Daily Mirror.
“I have told how Mr. Wickremesinghe will muster the support of 60 MPS earlier. Some from the ruling party may also support him. If one listened to what I said earlier, he or she would know how,” he said.
However, Mr. Madduma Bandara denied the claim when contacted by Daily Mirror. He said no one from SJB will support the former Prime Minister.“none will support a person who has been reduced to a nonentity in politics,” Mr. Madduma Bandara said.
“Those Unpers who claim about a mass crossover should get their heads examined,” he added.
SJB had begun to make new appointments during the recent days as MP Ajith Mannapperuma was appointed as the Deputy National Organiser of SJB while Mr. Madduma Bandara said discussions are on to give a senior position to MP Patali Champika Ranawaka. (YOHAN PERERA)
