SJB MPs today held a protest inside Parliament chambers calling for the government to resolve the fertilizer issue, holding placards and shouting slogans.
The protest began just after the commencement of public business.
SJB MPs took out placards and shouted slogans when Chief Opposition whip Lakshman Kiriella made a remark with regard to the fertilizer issue.
“The present government pledged to implement a ten-year programme to convert into organic fertilizer, however serious issues have arisen as a result of the government's decision to shift towards organic fertilizer within one year,” he said.
The SJB MP brought out the placards and shouted slogans at that moment. “ Diyavu Diyavu Pohora Diyu (Give us fertilizer) was the slogan they used.
MPs of the government side were seen launching a verbal confrontation but what they said was not heard because of the noise.(Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
