The health authorities will today start the rollout of doses of Covid-19 vaccine received from Serum Institute of India, State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said today.

The Minister said 500,000 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca were purchased from India at Rs.510 million. The stock was delivered to Sri Lanka today. He said people above 60 in the high-risk Gramaseva divisions in the western province would receive the jabs first.

“We have identified these areas with the assistance of the epidemiology unit and the state intelligence authorities,” he said. (Kelum Bandara)
