Sri Lanka Legends have thrashed the England Legends by 6 wickets in their last round robin league match of the ongoing Road Safety World Series T20 to finish at the top of the points table.

With 5 wins out of 6 matches, Sri Lanka Legends have 20 points to their credit. India too have won equal number of matches, but the Sri Lankans are ahead of them in terms of net run-rate.

On Sunday’s (March 14) match, the English struggled throughout their innings after being sent to bat first. With their top six failing to reach double digits but wasting lots of balls, they posted a paltry 78 for 9 in their stipulated 20 overs.

It was Jim Troughton and Chris Tremlett, who scored 18 and 22 respectively to help their team to a noteworthy total.

For Sri Lanka, Dilshan continued his glorious form both with the ball and bat in hand, as he first took 4 wickets at expense of just 6 runs in his 4 overs. Rangana Herath also took 2 wickets conceding 17 runs.

While chasing, Dilshan took the charge once again, and struck an unbeaten 61 off 26 balls with 11 fours and a six, as his side chased down the total in just 7.3 overs.

While Dilshan was ferocious at one end, Sri Lanka kept losing wicket from the other end, and hence the winning margin was not any better than of 6 wickets.

All 4 wickets were taken by Monty Panesar, who conceded 26 runs in his 4 overs.

The two semifinals, featuring the top four sides of the round robin league, are scheduled for March 17 and 18, with the final set to take place on March 21.(Bdcrictime)
