Reports of the forensic audit on the Central Bank bond scam will be kept at the COPE Secretariat as a confidential report until the next COPE Committee is established, former COPE Chairman, MP Sunil Handunnetti said today.

He said the forensic audit had focused on Central Bank transactions between 2002 and February 28, 2015, with the COPE receiving five reports on the forensic accounts.

MP Hadunnetti said as instructed by the Attorney General, these reports could only be used by members of the COPE Committee and that too for legal purposes and as such measures would be taken to keep the reports confidential.

He said the forensic accounts have been kept classified and that instructions have been given to the COPE Secretariat to proceed forthwith the approval of its members once the COPE committee is re-established.

The committee meeting which was scheduled for yesterday to discuss the future course of action based on the reports was cancelled due to the prorogation of the parliament. (Ajith Siriwardana)
