The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) organisation today (25) requested Muslim females to cooperate and identify themselves and remove their face veil whenever necessary taking into account the emergency situation and the heightened security prevailing in the country.

They also requested them to not to create any situation where others would feel threatened and to carry their identity cards or any other form of identity and to cooperate fully with security officials.

The ACJU said they were able to speak on behalf of the Muslim community in asking the Christian and Catholic communities to carry out their religious activities in their churches on Sunday as usual and that they, the ACJU, would provide the necessary security they need to make sure that nothing untoward would happen on this day and in the future as well.

"If the Christian and Catholic communities do not feel safe to worship in churches, the ACJU will come forward to support them," they assured, adding, "We will be writing to Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith in this regard. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
