Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Founder and its National Organiser Basil Rajapaksa yesterday said the SLPP is all ready to form a new government as the party's victory has been confirmed.
He expressed these views after casting vote at D.A.Rajapaksa Maha Vidyala at Medamulana. Mr.Rajapaksa said his party would make history as the only party to come into power within a short span of time since its formation, defeating other old political parties.
"The SLPP, which was formed as a party that respects the opinions and views of the people, will continue to represent the needs of the people after forming a government. We are confident of the SLPP recording a historic victory. We hope for a two thirds majority at the election but it is up to the people to decide," he said.
He said he is confident that the economy can be revived under the leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
“The new government is ready to face the economic challenges similar to how we had already managed the COVID-19 situation. The SLPP expresses its gratitude to the Election Commission, health officials, government employees, security officials and all people who followed health guidelines during voting," he said.(Lahiru Pothmulla)
