The United National Party and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna will contest the upcoming LG Polls as one alliance, the UNP confirmed.
UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said that the new alliance will be contesting some local bodies under the UNP symbol while in some bodies they will contest under the Pohotuwa sympbol. In some other bodies, the alliance will contest under a new symbol which is yet to be decided.
An SLPP delegation led by Basil Rajapaksa met with a group of UNP members a few days ago and this decision to contest together was finalized at the meeting. (Yohan Perera)
