19 June 2019 01:04 pm

Following the discussions with the Transport Minister Arjuna Ranatunga, the Railway Trade Union Alliance (RTUA) said they had decided to launch the 48-hour token strike from tonight.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Locomotive Engine Operators' Union (LEOU) Secretary Indika Dodangoda said the Transport Minister had requested to hold the strike until 2.00 p.m tomorrow to have a discussion with the Finance Minister.

“We will not give up the trade union action unless we receive a concrete and positive decision from the Finance Ministry,” he said.
