Qatar bans visitors from Sri Lanka, 13 other countries

Qatar has temporarily banned the entry of travelers in 14 countries, including Sri Lanka, with effect from Monday (9), news agencies stated quoting an advisory issued by Qatar.

The decision has been taken to minimize the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the state.

The advisory stated that Qatar is imposing temporary entry restrictions on Doha-bound passengers in these countries in the last 14-days: Philippines, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, South Korea, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakisatan, Sri Lanka, Syria and Thailand.

The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar has announced on March 8, that there are three new positive cases of the Covid-19 bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 15.
