Public transport facilities will not be adequate and it will become the mode of  spreading COVID virus again if the full strength public servants are summoned to work at once, Kelaniya University Medicine Faculty Prof. Arjuna de Silva said.

He said the country should be opened under strict travel restrictions and health guidelines.

It is clear that the current COVID situation is spreading rapidly from public transport services such as buses and trains, Prof. Silva said.

As a result, he believes calling approximately 25% of government employees first would be the best course of action.

The death toll and the number of infected cases have dropped, and the current situation is much better than it was before the curfew was imposed, he said.

Under the strict health laws, limited number of employees should be called in and should first proceed with strict attention for about a week, Prof. Silva added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
