Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa today urged the government to provide face masks free of charge to the people and to break the mafia that had been started by some unscrupulous sellers.
Mr. Premadasa in a special statement said some sellers have created a face mask mafia just like the pharmaceutical mafia which some suppliers carried out some time back.
“There is a high demand for face masks in the wake of Corona virus spreading in 15 countries, and the sellers have created a shortage in order to jack up prices. Therefore it is imperative that government provides face masks to the people free of charge,” Mr. Premadasa said in his statement.
Also he said awareness programmes should be implemented immediately in the rural areas about the disease.
