Prof Ranasinghe, new DG at Central Cultural Fund

General Secretary of the Society of South Asian Archaeology (SOSAA) Professor Gamini Ranasinghe has been appointed the new director general of the Central Cultural Fund (CCF).

He is slated to assume duties on Wednesday (March 10). The youngest ever Sri Lankan to reach the rank of professor in archaeology, the Medawachchiya born Professor Ranasinghe from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has been making headlines in the recent past owing his unique life story.

Professor Ranasinghe obtained a doctorate in Marine Archaeology from the University of Xiamen in China following a Masters’ Degree in Archaeology from the University of Kelaniya. He read for his bachelors degree at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
