Presidential Commission appointed to streamline Customs

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed a Presidential Commission to increase the productivity of the Sri Lanka Customs Department and to study its current situation, the President’s Media Division said.

It said the Commission is mandated to make recommendations to increase efficiency of the Customs and to prevent irregularities.

The Commission which is chaired by Supreme Court Judge Shiran Anthony Gunaratne consists of members like Appeal Court Judge Priyantha Fernando, High Court Judge Damith Thotawatte, CBSL Deputy Governor K M M Siriwardana, Senior Consultant (Trade) Dr. Sanath Jayanetti and former Customs Director General P.
