Chief Government Whip and Minister of Public Security Prasanna Ranatunga yesterday said he is willing to meet the Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith for a discussion in order to clear all doubts on Easter Sunday attacks.
“I have informed the Cardinal in writing that I am willing to meet him, the other bishops and the priests for a discussion with him so that any doubts with regard to the Easter Sunday attacks could be cleared,” he told Parliament.
“We too are concerned about the attacks. It was I who visited Katuwapitiya Church, Negombo and St Anthony’s Church, Kochchikade as soon as the attack took place,” he recalled.
He said a false claim is made that the present government played a role in the attacks in order to come to power and this should be stopped once and for all.
“I am sad about the allegations which the MPS made against the intelligence officers. One MP was talking of a master mind. He should reveal who this mastermind is if he is aware of the truth. (YOHAN PERERA AND AJITH SIRIWARDANA)
