The government will not shirk its responsibilities when it comes to solving the power crisis in the country, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said at a meeting at Temple Trees today.

“The power crisis today could have been avoided if Sri Lanka went ahead with the construction of three LNG plants as planned,” Premier Wickremesinghe had told the ministers who were present.

“Sri Lanka held discussions with India, China and Japan to construct three LNG power plants with their assistance between August 2015 and October 2018. The projects never got off the ground. Who is to be responsible for this?" he inquired from those present. (Yohan Perera)
