Persons who left Western Province to be quarantined

Those who have left the Western Province on October 29 and 30 will be subjected to self quarantine for a period of 14-day at the places where they are currently at, Police said.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that a special operation is being conducted at the moment especially out of Western Province.

"All the Police stations except in the Western Province had been informed to check hotels, circuit bungalows or other places of lodging where local tourists are given accommodation. Accordingly the police will collect information from the hotel or other places where the accommodation is provided for local tourists. If the tourists of those hotels have arrived at the hotel on the 29 or 30th of October from Western Province or from Kuliyapitiya areas they have violated quarantine order," he said.

Therefore Police would take appropriate action together with local health authorities and subject them to quarantine procedures, the spokesman said.

Accordingly they should follow be subjected to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days at the hotel or the place where they are at. "Constant visits would be carried out by police officers and the local health authorities to monitor that they follow the guidelines. Thereafter they can proceed to Western Province to their permanent residences,” he said.

However after the completion of the quarantine procedure, action would be taken to file charges against them under the quarantine law, DIG Rohana said.
