The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) today said that people's interest in the covid virus is gradually waning and, at the moment, as they are least bothered to adhere to health guidelines issued by the health ministry.

addressing the media, GMOA general committee member Dr. Prasad Kolabage said that not adhering to the health guidelines is not something to be taken lightly.

"What we see on the road these days might become the most unfortunate omens in the future. Most of the people have forgotten to wear their face masks properly. Most face masks cover their neck or chin instead of the mouth and nose, "he said.

Nowadays, people have forgotten to maintain social distances, and there is a serious criticism about this these days. The government, health ministry, and security officers should hold the responsibility of correcting society, he said.

If we act responsibly, our country will be able to eradicate the dreaded virus and we will be able to prevent another wave of cases, Dr. Kolabage added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
