PM suggests flats for Muslim IDPs in North

It has been decided to construct flats for Muslims who were displaced after they were chased out of Jaffna during the war.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe came out with this idea after Trade and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen brought up the issue of Muslim IDPs at a meeting held in the Jaffna Divisional Secretariat Office today.

“Muslim IDPs who were resettled in Jaffna after the war, complain about the space of land available to them. Some of them have returned from the resettled locations. They say the land is not enough with the growing population. Therefore, this issue should be looked into,” Mr Bathiudeen said.

The Prime Minister had then suggested and advised the relevant authorities to look into it. (Yohan Perera in Jaffna)
