Over 800 passengers arrive at BIA within 24 hours

A total of 832 passengers including Sri Lankan expatriate workers, who were stranded overseas, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am this morning.

A total of 389 expatriate workers returned to the country from Dubai and Abu Dhabi through the government’s repatriation programme while the others returned through normal flights.

Some 97 passengers from Dubai, 79 from Doha and some 45 passengers from Singapore arrived in the country through normal flights.

They were subjected to PCR tests at the BIA laboratory and sent to a government-operated quarantine centre. (T.K.G. Kapila)
