Over 7,000 persons in quarantine centers; 32,816 complete quarantine

At least 7,058 persons are currently under quarantine at 65 quarantine centres in the country, National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Head Army Commander Shavendra Silva said.

He said a total of 32,816 persons had left quarantine centres after completing the quarantine process.

Twelve persons arrived from India tested positive for Covid-19 today. Eleven tested positive at the quarantine centre in Palali while another at Dambulla Paradise Hotel quarantine centre was found to have contracted the virus.

Five Covid-19 patients recovered and were discharged today.  

Accordingly, the total confirmed cases in Sri Lanka surged to 2,982 while total recoveries increased to 2,819. The number of activecases is 146.

There are 83 suspected cases currently under investigation in hospitals and the recovery rate in Sri Lanka is 94.53% while fatality rate remains at 0.4% with 12 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) said 213,462 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests have been carried out in Sri Lanka as of today with 2,372 tests carried out yesterday.

According to its statistics, the highest number of PCR tests amounting to 3,518 was carried out on August 18.  (Sheain Fernandopulle)
