Police have received over 200 calls on Tuesday alone, from persons seeking to identify the decapitated body of a woman found in Dam Street.
Following the horrific incident, Police sought public assistance to identify the female victim and provided a phone number to which a large number of calls have been received over the past few days.
The calls have come from various individuals seeking information of their daughters or spouses, who have either been reported missing or have left their homes.
The Dam Street Police OIC Ajith Peduruarchchi has received local and international calls, from loved ones attempting to identify if the deceased victim is a family member. The Police have also received photographs of the missing individuals.
