Opposition remarks on power crisis ironic – State Minister

The Opposition which did not build a single power plant in the country during their rule is now making various remarks on the power crisis, said State Minister Kanaka Herath.

He stated this while participating in the ceremony to launch the renovation activities of the 3.2 kilometre long road from Dehiowita to Amithirigala, Pallekanugala under the ‘Kegallath Hadamu’ policy statement.

This road will be carpeted at a cost of Rs.20 million in line with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s ‘Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour’ election manifesto.

The State Minister said the Opposition had opposed to every power plant project proposed to be implemented by the 2005-2015 government. This includes the Sampur coal power plant and other wind power plants in the North. He also said the present government is implementing the LNG, wind power and other renewable energy projects with the intention of providing solutions to the future power crisis.

Political representatives of the Kegalle District and the officials of the Road Development Authority participated on this occasion.
