No need to adhere to circular on dress code – PM’s office

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that there is no need to adhere to the recently issued circular on the dress code of the public offices as the government has decided to amend it.

“Minister of Public Administration Ranjith Madduma Bandara is in the process of amending the circular on the dress code,” the Prime Minister Office said in a statement today.

In a recently issued circular, the Ministry of Public Administration has made it compulsory for all female employees who work in government institutions, to wear a sari or an osari.  Male employees should wear a shirt and trousers, or national dress.
