The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) had decided to remove the maximum retail price of Rs.75 for a coconut from today.
An extra-ordinary gazette notification in this regard had been issued today.
A senior official from the CAA said the maximum retail price was removed to create a competitive price at the market.
He also said if the traders used to sell coconuts at higher rates they would take action to reimpose the controlling price on coconuts. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
