While saying that the Criminal Investigations Department has launched an investigation into the fire that erupted at the Supreme Court complex today, Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said neither documents nor any registry had been damaged in the fire.

He said the CID would also be assisted by Police Scene of Crime Officers to collect scientific evidence.

"The CID has summoned the experts of the Government Analyst Department to collect relevant data," the Spokesman said.

The fire was reported at the debris store situated at the basement of the Supreme Court.

The teams of the Fire Brigade and Sri Lanka airforce rushed to the scene. Also, nine fire trucks were dispatched to the location to douse the fire.

The Spokesman said the fire was extinguished thereafter. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
