There are currently no anaesthesiologists at the District General Hospital in Embilipitiya and this highlights the grave danger the Sri Lankan health sector is facing, Dr. Haritha Aluthge of the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) said.
"Even emergency surgeries at this hospital have been halted. Policymakers are continuously urged to implement a programme to retain professionals in the country. We request the government to take immediate measures to address this issue," Dr. Aluthge said.
