No Tsunami threat to SL: Met Dept.

The metrological department said there is no Tsunami threat to Sri Lanka following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia's Sumatra Island today.

The Duty Metrologist of the Department said the Indonesia Metrology Department said there is no threat of Tsunami.

The strong offshore quake hit about 217km south-southwest of the city of Bengkulu at a shallow depth of 10km at 7:52 pm local time (1252 GMT). (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
