New circular by Edu. Ministry for Grade 1 admissions in 2021: Minister Dullas

Education Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that the circular issued by the Education Ministry there are unnecessary and illogical points factual errors the circular issued by the Educations Ministry of Education throughout the recent past with regard to the tests conducted when recruiting students to grade one contained irrational and unjust facts.

Due to the comprising of an unethical and unjust point system with the circulars issued with regards to the recruitment of children to grade one, Education Minister had advised the Ministry Secretary to issue a new circular of admission for schools for the year 2021.

While addressing a national ceremony of admitting children to grade one at the Nagolla Primary college in Wilgamuwa, Matale, several villagers and parents complained the minister about the issues with the circular over students enrolment.

The Central Province Governor Lalith U. Gamage has also confirmed that the circular was inappropriate.

Minister Alahapperuma said concerns in divisional levels especially land disputes, licensing and delays in awarding deeds should be considered before compiling the circular for school admissions.

The Minister issued relevant directives after taking into consideration concerns that have arisen over admissions.

Therefore, the Education Secretary had advised issuing a new circular taking into consideration the local land issues, delays in issuing permits and deeds since the current circular is applicable to entire Sri Lanka. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
